Carnival Guide

The Bobcat Bash is a major fundraiser for the PTA that brings our community together every year to enjoy amusement rides, games, food, silent auction and fun! Many families have made the carnival a part of their fall traditions, but we are always excited to see the reaction from our first-timers!

COUNTDOWN TO CARNIVAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

An event of this size requires dozens of volunteers, donations, and many months of planning and hard work. In the Countdown to Carnival, our committee chairs need a lot of help to meet their deadline. If you’re not already on a committee and want to help during the weeks leading up to Carnival, please CONTACT US. We will have one of our Bobcat Bash co-chairs get back with you as soon as possible. In addition, please be on the lookup for a Sign Up Genius from your Room Parent (after Spring Break) to help with your classroom booth!

Carnival Prep Day and SET-UP HELP

IMG_0163.JPG

Carnival Prep Day is scheduled for Tuesday, March 29th at the Sugar Creek 1 Clubhouse.  You don’t need any experience to lend a hand. Just show up with a positive attitude ready to work any time from 5pm to 8pm. If you only have an hour, we will take it! We will be making tissue flowers, stuffing confetti eggs and getting items ready for the big day.

The day of the Carnival, Friday, April 8th, we will need all hands on deck from morning drop-off to 3pm. Lunch is on us! Low-impact jobs include finishing the paper flowers, filling confetti eggs, and sorting prizes. Tougher jobs include lifting, moving, and setting up the heavy things (Dads, big brothers, uncles, super buff moms, we are talking to you!).

All volunteers helping with set-up during school hours will need to check in at the front office and get a sticker.

“SHOW TIME” VOLUNTEERS

Most of the set-up will be done before the first official Carnival volunteer shift starts at 3pm. Please take a look at the Sign Up Geniuses below. We would LOVE to have your help as we celebrate bringing the Bobcat Bash BACK better than ever!

Your children are also welcome to work with you. There’s no need to get someone to watch them during your Carnival shift. Let them help by taking tickets, handing out prizes, or any other age-appropriate activity at your booth.

HAVE MIDDLE OR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO NEED SERVICE HOURS?

Organizers are looking for middle and high school students who are willing to help with this fabulous fundraiser! Volunteers choose when they want to work. And, if your child wants to work with her BFF, just note that in the comments and we will try our best to make it work! Click HERE to sign up for middle school/high school shifts.

CARNIVAL “SHOW TIME” VOLUNTEER NOTES

  • Check in at the volunteer table set up at the Carnival entrance before your shift (This applies only to people volunteering after school during the carnival).

  • The 3;15-4;30pm slots include last-minute booth set-up.

  • The 6:30-7:45pm slots include breaking down.

HELP FROM HOME NOW

Confetti Egg Collection

confetti eggs.jpg

One of the most popular booths at the Bobcat Bash is the one where students can “buy” a dozen empty eggs filled with confetti to throw on their friends, family members, and even teachers! As you can imagine, this requires A LOT of eggs, so we put on a friendly contest to encourage people to donate. Some super helpful (and perhaps competitive) families collect their eggshells year-round, but we really need everyone’s help in the final Countdown to Carnival!

The top 3 classes that send in the most cartons of empty, clean eggshells before the deadline will win a special prize.

CONFETTI EGG CONTEST NOTES

  • Watch this quick VIDEO to learn how to collect eggshells for Carnival. If you would like to purchase an egg cracker to help you along the way, you can buy one HERE.

  • Write your child’s teacher’s name on each egg carton so the class gets credit for your donation.

  • Put the cartons in the collection bin in your child’s cluster. The kindergarten bin is on the atrium stage.

  • The first place class will win a pizza party. Second place will get popsicles, and third place earns an extra recess!

  • The contest starts on Monday, March 7 and the deadline is Wednesday, April 6.

Bobcat Bash Art Contest

Help us spread the word about the upcoming Bobcat Bash, and you can win a great prize! Have your child create a poster showing his or her favorite thing about the carnival. Encourage your budding artist to make the poster as bright and bold as possible. We will hang the entries in the hallways throughout the school to help get everyone excited about the event. Organizers will choose the winning poster and then have it printed on a banner that will hang in the atrium the week leading up to the Bobcat Bash!

2019 WINNER: Robert Beliaev, 1st Grade (Wyatt)

2019 WINNER: Robert Beliaev, 1st Grade (Wyatt)

ART CONTEST PRIZES:

  • Winner gets to keep the banner after Carnival

Drop Off Class Donations

DROP OFF IN ATRIUM MONDAY, APRIL 4 THROUGH THURSDAY, APRIL 7

The Bobcat Bash is a fundraiser for the PTA that allows us to support the school in many ways. That’s why we ask our families to send in specific donations to help defray the cost of putting on an event this size. We’ve broken down our requests by grade level. Please drop off your donations on the atrium stage by April 7th.

TICKET BUYING GUIDE

You might want to do a little math to figure out how many tickets to buy. Take into account how many people are in your group and how many rides and games they might play. If you underestimate, you can always buy more at the event, and if you overestimate, there will be countless students willing to help you spend what’s left. It’s a fundraiser after all! Tickets cost $0.50 each, but for every ten tickets you pre-order, you get two free!

CONCESSIONS COSTS

Since the Bobcat Bash runs from 3:30 to 7:30, you might also want to factor in concessions costs when you’re figuring out how many tickets to buy. Our concessions organizers have made sure your family can eat dinner and keep on playing at Carnival!

Carnival Parking

Parking during Carnival is extremely limited. We encourage you to carpool or walk if you can. Canebrake has agreed to open its pool parking lot that afternoon and evening to provide us with a few more spaces. Please be considerate of the people who live around the school and do not block their driveways or the roads. Most importantly, drive carefully and watch out for excited little Bobcats eager to cross the roads and the parking lots to get to the fun faster!
